Cottage Food Producers

Colorado State University is now offering Cottage Food Safety Training

The training will cover how to safely handle and operate a food business from your home kitchen.

This training includes:

  • Basic food safety requirements; including food contamination and cross contact of food allergens.
  • Temperature control
  • Storage
  • Safe transport
  • Sales
  • Permissable foods under the Colorado Cottage Food Act.

Colorado State University Extension in El Paso County now has a local Master Food Safety Advisor.

The Master Food Safety Advisor is a volunteer trained to provide the public with research-based information from Colorado State University and USDA

Food Saftey Team members can help families and individuals minimize food waste by answering questions about:
• Food safety and storage
• Preventing food borne illnesses
• Emergency preparedness
• Canning, freezing, pickling/fermenting and drying your garden, farmer’s market or store bought bounty
