Date
Welcome to Growing in Colorado
Get terrific information on gardening in the Pikes Peak region, including appropriate plants, water-wise landscaping, and sources for successful efforts in your own garden.

Sept 7, 2:00-4:00 p.m. or
Sept 9, 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Turf Basics
The Lowdown on Keeping the Lawn Green. My old "Pappy" told me that growin’ grass is really easy. You just add the fertilizer and let the heavens provide the moisture. That recipe worked for me in New York but now that I live in Colorado, the recipe keeps my lawn brown. What can I do to ensure a nice looking lawn? Come to our class and learn the fundamentals of caring for Colorado lawns. Plus, we will teach you how to renovate troubled lawns and become the lawn champion for your neighborhood.

Sept 14, 2:00-4:00 p.m. or
Sept 16, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Soil Basics
Soil is a critical component of successful Rocky Mountain gardening, yet remains one of the most misunderstood. Eighty percent of plant problems begin with soil conditions. Learn what soil is, what you can do to improve what you have, and why plants can benefit from your improvements.

Oct 7, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Introduction to Plant Select®
Plant Select® is a cooperative effort by Denver Botanic Gardens and Colorado State University to seek out and introduce exciting plants for western gardens. Come learn about the plants chosen since the program’s inception in 1997.

Oct 12, 2:00-4:00 p.m. or
Oct 14, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Creating a Backyard Wildlife Habitat
Learn how to have your yard certified as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat through the National Wildlife Federation, with examples of sites including local residences, a local nursery, and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. By providing wildlife with food and water, cover from weather and predators, and a place to raise their young, you can enjoy a year-round environment

Oct 28, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
